A truffle is basically the edible fruit of a subterranean fungal organism, primarily one of the family Tuberculata. It belongs to the family Ascomycota, which also includes such mushrooms as shiitake, porcelain shiitake, button mushroom, maitake, matsutake, oyster, and many others. Besides Tubercula, several other genera of these fungi are also recognized as truffles, including Geopora, Ophiocarpum, Peziza, Chlorophyllum, Leucangium, etc. All these fungi belong to the Ascomycota subfamily.
In Italy, the name black truffle refers to an edible version of this fungi. In France, the term is usually used for what is called the "real thing". In Germany, it is also known as the black gold". In English, it is referred to as the "truffle" or as the "peel" or even the "black stuff" "brown stuff". In Italian, the name is more usually used to refer to the black, oily substance that can be extracted from the edible part of these fungi.
Truffles are generally used as an ingredient in baking goods, as a garnish on foodstuffs and desserts, and even in the preparation of wines and other drinks. The black truffle, however, is often included in cooking as a topping for certain dishes and soups.
There are many varieties of truffles. Most are harvested from mushroom species such as Geopora spp., but it is also possible to find them from other fungi, such as Agaricus, asparagus, mushrooms, and even potato. These fungi contain a group of fungi known as the aspergillaris group. They have a dark or brownish cap, which is smooth and slightly translucent and sometimes covered with a white capular structure.
The truffling acid of these aspergillaris fungi is similar in some respects to that of a sulfuric acid produced by sulphurans. In fact, they have similar structural elements. They are found in the presence of other sulphurans, as well.
When mixed with sugar and water, the aspergillaris fungi help to enhance the aroma of foods. These include foods such as cheeses, berries, wine, chocolate, wine, olives, sausages, mushrooms, etc. However, they have a very specific role in preparing foods that are high in proteins and carbohydrates.
Because of their ability to make food appear richer, the aspergillaris fungi tend to accumulate at the surface of certain foods that contain carbohydrates. Therefore, they are usually found on the bottom of the sausages. Although this type of mushroom is mainly used for making bread, there is no doubt that the combination of the two produces the best black truffle sea salt.
Truffles are not very expensive. In fact, the highest quality truffles can be quite expensive, although not necessarily worth the price. A very good truffle salt can also be produced from mushrooms that are less than three years old, although some higher-quality mushrooms can last for decades. If you want to get rid of them completely, consider using them as a garnish for meals, such as a salad. However, you can also use them in a salad dresser or with bread or pastry, if you choose.
Aspergillaris Fungi is found in mushrooms all over the world. However, they tend to grow most readily in a humid environment and to grow quickly. When you are preparing a meal that requires these mushrooms, be sure to use a truffle salt that is made from a fungus called Penicillium rhizome, which grows in tropical countries, and has a longer life span than most others.
Truffles are often sold in a variety of forms. Some people prefer to use them raw, some in salted water, others in brine, and others as pate and crackers. Other people like to eat them as snacks while watching football or basketball games.
People who prefer to use aspergillaris fungi in a salty form often do so because of the pungent taste and smell that they create. In fact, the aspergillaris fungus is responsible for the flavor of curry powder.
For people who are allergic to mushrooms, the aspergillaris fungi can be used to make a salt substitute by soaking the mushrooms in a solution of vinegar and salt overnight. Although this type of truffle can cause skin irritation in some people, it is actually quite mild. It will, however, create an unpleasant flavor, so it is not advisable for use by some.
